The good news for Glacier National Park? A 7.5% increase in visitors so far this year over last, and that was a record! The bad news? Between the current federal administration’s firings of longtime staff, park rangers, administrators, maintenance, and other National Park employees, Glacier National Park’s staff has been decreased by 25%.
Today, a large protest at the park occurred because of a visit by the Congressional Western Caucus, whose members recently helped pass 2025’s “Big Beautiful Bill” that rescinded $276 million from the National Park Service.
Ironically enough, the event had to be moved outside of the park, due to the lack of staffing.
